School Programm

Our Offer

For groups and school classes from grammar school to high school, we offer by prior arrangement specially coordinated tours through the permanent and special exhibitions. Subjects are:

  • Prehistory
  • Roman Era
  • Cathedral Treasure
  • Modern Era
  • Tours through the Special Exhibitions

If you have special wishes, we ask that you please mention these when booking. The duration of the tours, if nothing else has been arranged, is about 60 minutes. Immediately after the tour or other program, you may return with your group to the exhibition.

Proper Planning

In any event, please let us know in advance when you are coming with your group, even if you have not booked a program or a tour. Since during the big special exhibitions, we look after a lot of groups that have registered with us, your group, if not registered, could experience a long wait before being admitted into the museum.

Also please plan to arrive at the cashier and coat room about 15 minutes before your assigned program or tour is to begin. There will be special storage rooms available for groups to store their coats, heavy jackets, large bags, baby carriages, backpacks and umbrellas, none of which may, for insurance reasons, be taken into the exhibitions.

Information for Teachers

The Youth Museum is a favored extracurricular location for learning. With our school programs for the permanent and special exhibitions at the Historical Museum of the Palatinate, we invite classes of all ages and levels to visit our museum. In addition to tours with our experienced guides, our activity-oriented Workshops provide our younger visitors a fun and creative way to experience the various exhibition subjects.

Information on a trouble-free visit with your class to our museum may be found here.

Preparation and Handouts

To prepare your students for the visit, we have handouts for particular exhibition subjects that you can download as PDFs from the bottom of this page. In order to attune yourself optimally for your museum visit, teachers are cordially invited to visit the chosen exhibition beforehand at no charge. Simply bring with you an authorization from your school administration and show this to the cashier.

With every school program, two adult chaperones are afforded free entry. Every additional adult pays the reduced adult admission fee.

A Card for the entire School

With the School Card, all classes in a school receive free entry to all permanent and special exhibitions at the Museum for one year. The card costs 175 € and is valid for one year until the last day of the month in which it was purchased. However, the costs of Workshops and tours are not included. The card authorizes free visits to the museum by school classes. In order to prepare a visit to the museum without one’s class, we ask teachers to show a confirmation from the school administration to the cashier.

It is also possible to order the card with direct debit authorization. Forms for this purpose are available at the Information Desk in the museum.
